Temp Mail FAQ
Everything you need to know about temporary email, disposable addresses, and how 10 minute mail works.
What is a temporary email address?
A temporary email address is a short-lived, disposable inbox that lets you receive emails without using your real email address. Temporary email is ideal for sign-ups, verification codes, and one-time downloads where you do not want to expose your personal mailbox to marketing lists or data breaches. The address is generated instantly, requires no registration, and is permanently destroyed when the timer expires.
Is 10 minute mail really free?
Yes. Mail10M is completely free to use. There is no account, no subscription, and no credit card required. The service is supported by on-page advertising, which allows us to keep temporary email free for everyone. You can generate as many disposable addresses as you need at no cost.
Can I receive verification codes with temp mail?
Yes. Most websites send verification codes, sign-up links, and one-time passwords to the email address you provide. Your temporary inbox at mail10m.com receives these messages in real time and auto-refreshes every five seconds, so verification codes appear within moments of the website sending them. Copy the code from the inbox and paste it back into the sign-up form.
How long does the temporary inbox last?
Each disposable email address lasts for exactly ten minutes. A visible countdown timer shows how much time remains. If you need more time, click the Reset 10 Min button to restart the countdown from 10:00. If you need a completely new identity, click New Address to generate a fresh temporary address instantly.
Can I send or reply to emails from a disposable address?
No. Mail10M is a receive-only temporary email service. You can read incoming emails and copy verification codes, but you cannot send or reply to messages. This keeps the service simple, fast, and abuse-resistant. If you need to send emails, use a regular email provider instead of a disposable address.
Can I extend the 10 minute timer?
Yes. The Reset 10 Min button resets the countdown back to 10:00, giving you another full ten minutes with the same address and inbox. You can reset as many times as you need while the page is open. Once the timer reaches zero without a reset, the address and all its emails are permanently deleted and cannot be recovered.
What happens to my emails after expiration?
When the ten minute timer runs out, the temporary email address and every message inside it are permanently destroyed. Hot data is purged from short-term cache immediately, and no copy is retained that could link the inbox back to you. Expired addresses cannot receive new emails and cannot be reactivated — you would need to generate a new disposable address instead.
Is using a disposable email address legal?
Yes, using a disposable email address is legal in most jurisdictions. Temporary email is a legitimate privacy tool for protecting your inbox from spam and unwanted tracking. However, you should not use a temporary address to bypass a service's terms of service, commit fraud, or evade legitimate account verification on financial or government platforms. Always check the terms of the website you are signing up for.
